As a common neutral grounding mode in medium and low voltage distribution network, small current grounding system plays an important role in the construction of distribution network in china.Single phase to ground fault is one of the most common faults in small current grounding system, and its occurrence rate is up to 80%.Especially in the new period, the development of China's electric power industry is accelerating, the structure of the distribution network is more complex and the scale is increasing, which further increases the probability of single phase to ground fault in distribution network. In this context, how to quickly and accurately locating single-phase grounding fault, reduce regional power outage, restoration of power distribution network in a timely manner, has important significance in improving the stability and reliability of distribution network for distribution. This paper based on many literatures at home and abroad about the distribution network fault location, first describes the background, significance and research status of the research, the research ideas and content, and then from the neutral point grounding, neutral grounding and neutral grounding via arc suppression coil three to explore the mechanism of single-phase grounding fault, then the single-phase grounding fault location method based on impedance method, commonly used in single-phase grounding fault location method and multi criteria fusion distribution network single-phase ground fault location ideas and other related theoretical foundation of inquiry, and finally through the dynamic simulation experiment and PSCAD simulation modeling. To explore the effective and practical application of distribution network single-phase ground fault location method, with a view to the new period of China's distribution network single-phase ground fault location reference.
