Neutral non-effective ground system is widely used in the distribution network of our county, the probability of single-phase-to-ground fault is very high, almost80%of all fault in the system. Because of the complex structure of the distribution network, the fault current is weak, the fault location is a difficult problem, seriously affected the distribution network reliability and improving the level of automation. Therefore, fast and accurate location has great vital significance to stability and economic operation of the whole power system. This paper relies on the topic "Experimental Study of Dynamic Mode Parameter Estimation Method and the Distribution Network Fault Location"of The GE China Technology Center. The14nodes35kV distribution network as the research object to fault location. This paper firstly analyzed the steady-state and transient single-phase ground fault feature, take advantage of the fault features of zero-sequence current and the negative sequence current component, Make full use of the zero-sequence current amplitude and phase comparison, transient zero-sequence current and negative sequence current comparison, detect the fault line in different operating modes of distribution network, which is divided for the entire distribution network fault zone. Secondly, propose a single-phase ground distribution network fault location method based on impedance method. So not only can effectively shorten the fault area, making fast fault location, exclude the spurious solutions of fault location results, but also can improve the accuracy of fault location. Finally, The principle is verified by PSCAD simulator, which has been tested in dynamic power system model, and the results show that the method proposed in this paper is reliability and accuracy, and analyzed the effects of the fault resistance and the load variation on the proposed method, and discusses the technology that need further research and solution.
