The Study On Combination Methods Of Collective And Individual Construction In Rural Residential Buildings

Over the past century,with the gradual promotion of rural construction,the rural residential buildings which have so much close relationship with villagers have experienced great changes.Although some existing ones have showed different characteristics based on traditional settlements,self-built villages and unified new villages,there are always shortcomings which don't match the needs of contemporary rural construction and development.Some architects began to explore multi-involved design methods of rural residential buildings,which allow for the possibility of selfimprovement by villagers in the future,to realize bilateral cooperation of designers and villagers with the introduction of time dimension.This paper proposes a new idea from the perspective of rural residential design methodology that the design and construction of rural dwellings should be divided into two phases after the confirmation of villagers.And the first stage decided by the design of professional teams mainly focuses on the overall situation while the second stage relied on villagers deals with the following self-improvement.Then the research is carried on in accordance with the logic of discovering problems,analyzing cases and practicing in projects,and concluded with a new design method of professional involved rural residential buildings which is the combination of collective and individual construction.Meanwhile,the relevant concepts,specific ways of operation,advantages,the scope and difficulties of application are also discussed in this paper.By using the new design method,on one hand,some major issues like village layout,housing forms and infrastructure can be solved by the professionals with the design management during the ‘collective construction' stage;and thus on the other hand,some small issues like living needs,habits and personal preferences can be dominated by the villages with the initiative creativity during the ‘individual construction' stage.The combination methods of collective and individual construction in rural residential buildings not only adapts to the development trend of contemporary rural environment,order,culture and atmosphere,but also has a certain inspiration to the design practice of rural dwellings involving the professionals.
