The Origin And Evaluation Of Jugendstil Architecture In Tsingtao

In Tsingtao's various historical architectural styles,the buildings of"Jugendstil"carry Tsingtao's exploration of the new construction movement.As an important part of Tsingtao's modern architecture,these"Jugendstil"buildings still play an irreplaceable role in urban landscape and cultural heritage.As the branch of European new art movement in Germany,the Tsingtao“Jugendstil”building was born in the late 19^th century and in the early 20^th century.Then as the German settlers came to Tsingtao,the development was localized.Through the artistic analysis of“the Jugendstil”and other works,this paper sums up the characteristics of"Jugendstil"architecture,which lays the theoretical foundation of the study of Tsingtao youth style building.Together with the formation and development system of Tsingtao modern city,the research and analysis of Tsingtao"Jugendstil"building are carried out.Firstly,this paper analyzes the background of the formation of the"Jugendstil"building,then combines the recent history of Tsingtao with it and collates the factors that promote the development of the"Jugendstil"building in Tsingtao.According to the different characteristics of Tsingtao"Jugendstil"architecture,its development can be divided into initial stage?1897-1904?---in this stage the Jugendstil is still in the exploratory stage,focus more on the details of some construction and interior decoration such as governor,temporary residence;the medium-term?1905-1914?---in this stage the Jugendstil architectural style was gradually mature,formed its own unique architectural style and decoration style,and this period also produced a large number of outstanding architectural works such as:the governor's mansion,the Christian church,red house,prince Henry hotel,etc.,which left a lot of valuable art works for Tsingtao;the ending age is those years after 1914---Germany failed in the first world war,and it gave all the privileges of over Japan.Due to the replacement of colonial ruling class,the building style also changed to adapt to the aesthetic demand of new rulers,in this stage the youth style building gradually disappear from the view of the people,can only be found from some of the buildings in the process of local development.This paper will pass through these three historical stages and study the Tsingtao Jugendstil architecture through concrete instances.Secondly,this paper organized,summarized and analyzed three aspects of Tsingtao youth style architecture from external form,interior decoration and performance material.Through examples of different aspects,the common architectural features are summarized.Finally,the aesthetic value,practical value,social value and historical value of Tsingtao Jugendstil school are evaluated in an objective way.Combined with the example which the supervisor completed in No.4 and No.6 road with the graduated student as an assistance,protection and renovation of historical architecture design as an example,according to the status quo and existing problems,this paper has given an analysis and summary,hoping that through this historical building protection and renovation project,ways of ancient building protection will be highlighted..
