As the basic components,spring is widely used in many industries,including engineering machinery,mechanical equipment,aerospace,energy,light textile and automobile.With industrial modernization development,requirements on machining precision and spatial shape of springs become increasingly strict.However,domestic spring machining equipment is now faced with many problems such as limited production capacity and laggard technologies.As a result,most spring coiling machine CNC systems are imported from foreign countries.But the imported equipment is too expensive and doesn't support secondary development.Therefore,independent development of open-ended CNC systems has become a problem that needs to be solved immediately.In this paper,a solution,which takes GoogolTech's Computer Programmable Automation Controller(CPAC)as the control core to construct software and hardware platforms,was proposed.Through hardware selection and software modularization development,an open-ended spring coiling machine CNC system was designed.Specific study contents are as follows:Through analyzing spring forming principles and processes and taking into consideration mechanical structure and operating principle of CNC spring coiling machine,the overall solution of the open-ended modularized spring coiling machine CNC system was established.According to machining characteristics and control requirements of spring coiling machine,hardware structure of the control system was determined.GUC series controllers,which are independently developed by Googol Tech,were taken as the control core of the spring coiling machine.Taking into consideration servo motor and HMI,a CANopen bus-based hardware control platform of the system was constructed.Software development platform Otostudio was used to complete “plug-and-play”modular design for each function of the spring coiling machine CNC system.Then,a program to realize the function of spring coiling was written.Standard communication interfaces were defined.User-friendly HMIs were developed.In this way,open-ended design of the system was realized to facilitate secondary development for upgrade.In addition,accelerated and decelerated motions of the spring coiling machine were studied to construct a mathematical model for acceleration & decelerationoptimization algorithm.At last,MATLAB was used for simulation analysis to test the spring coiling machine CNC system.The test results showed that this system basically satisfied design requirements.
