With the sustained economic development of Dongguan, electricity consumption in all walks of life continue to increase and higher demands for power quality is put forward. Thus, how to ensure the power supply reliability, especially,to realize uninterruptible power supply with power system fault is received increasingly attention. In order to guarantee the security and stability of power supply, busbar automatic transfer switch(BATS)equipments are installed in the existing substation of Dongguan to ensure the power supply reliability of 10 k V distribution network. The operating 10 k V BATS device rarely has the opportunity to act and regular inspection is unable to be carried out in the situation of bus outage,so the performance char acteristic of the BATS device cannot be comprehensively inspected. Therefore, how to promote the correct operation rate of the BATS device is the major research goal of our subject. In this paper, the emergence and development of the BAT device are firstly introduced,as well as the basic principle of the line automatic transfer switch and section automatic transfer switch are set forth. Then by collecting relevant information,10 k V BATS operation of Dongguan are presented.Several typical cases of the BATS device incorrect action events nearly three years are selected to analyze the action process and deficiency in present measures. Finally,in the following five kinds of circumstances,no voltage blocking BATS device, load sharing of BATS device, connection mode of BATS device, the setting principle design of BATS device and validity check of BATS device action, the corresponding improvement strategies are put forward and the feasibilities are analyzed.
