Vehicular Ad Hoc Network(VANET)as an important part of future intelligent transport systems.The multimedia applications based on VANET not only can contribute to solve traffic problem,such as traffic jam,traffic accident and so on,but also can improve the driving experience for drivers and enhance the journey comfort for passangers.First of all,we describe the research and development status of VANET in the introduction part.To illustrate the importance of researching the performance and quality of video streaming transmitted in VANET,we deeply analyze the characteristics of the video streaming applicaitons based on VANET.Then the basic theory and key technologies which related of VANET and video encode are elaborately analyzed in the section 2.In section 3 discusses the importance of the VANET of vehicle mobile model in the simulation experiment,this section proposes a simple model of the vehicle uniformly distributed and deeply researchs the relation of the vehicle mobility model.In addition to evaluate the performance of video streaming in VANET,in this paper not only considers the performance of the network transmission,and also to consider the quality of the video.Therefore,this paper deeply analyses assessment model of video quality.Secondly,in order to evaluate the quality of the video streaming trasmitted in VANET,in section 4 proposes a video stream performance simulation platform based on VANET,and detailly explains the work of it,as well as the related modules are descripted.The section 5 of this paper constructs different vehicle moving scenario according to the vehicle mobility model and test the video stream transmitted in various environment(such as the size of video data packet,various node density and its speed)of VANET and also analyzes and summarizes the experimental results.From the analysis of simulation results,the performance of video streaming transmitted in VANET is not only related from Ad hoc network routing protocols,but also related to the environment of vehicle network.Finally,we summarize our work and give some idea for further research.In a word,this paper focuses on issues about the performance of video straming transmitted in VANET,and proposes a video stream performance simulation platform based on VANET.Using this platform to simulate the video streaming transmitted in difference vehicle vehicle moving scenario,and analyze the size of video data packet,node density and its moving speed effected about the performance of video transmission in VANET.Thesefore,by researching the performance of video streaming transmitted in VANET can provide some help the research and usage of the video transmission in VANET.
