Architecture is a spirit associated with people's culture and beliefs. The study of the history of religions dominant in Iran indicates the same truth such that the religious-ritual attitudes of people has been crystallized in the body of their architecture(Durant).Forgetting the traditional architecture is equal with forgetting people's culture. All elements used in architecture are not an exception.Window is one of the factors playing a significant role in the formation of the appearance of residential buildings and transferring the architectural features and if it enjoys the surrounding environmental characteristics and culture,it takes the architectural identity of that place. The arrival of modern architecture and limitless freedom in the shaping of buildings,a kind of confusion and sometimes uniform forms irrelevant to the culture are created for the windows that have diminished the role of the window in people's life such that it cannot convert the culture of the land it belongs to.On the other hand in most traditional societies they have failed to fulfill the concept of sustainable operation. To restore the spirit of culture to the buildings and cities solutions should be offered. The study is an attempt to develop the Iranian architecture based on the needs of modern life and contemporary tastes by taking a close look at the traditional art and architecture and providing solutions to modernize the traditional design of Iranian windows. The researcher first studies Iran's traditional windows and then by comparing the windows and the implemented samples of contemporary architecture the method of modernizing is simulated. Finally, solutions for modernizing these windows are provided.
