The Twelfth Five-Year Plan Period is an important developing opportunity.With the further need of economy,China is engaged in developing modern transportation industry.With the surging extreme weather recently,the traffic flow around the country is increasing apparently,which makes greater demands on the traffic safety of highway at all levels.We need to lay equal stress on both prevention and emergency and insist the principle of combining normality with abnormality,in order to strengthen the capacity building of traffic safety.There are some common kinds of road illness,such as water damage,roadbed subsidence,slope failure,frost heaving and boiling,mud-pumping,etc..There is no denying that sloping failure is one of the most important reasons resulting in road illness.In the case of slope instability,collapse,landslide,even debris flow can happen frequently,which will destroy nearby road,farmhouse and farmland,and cause great damage to our society.Especially the protective engineering of the mountainous cutting slope has been damaged repeatedly,which has a strong impact on the whole smooth line.Therefore,it is imperative to carry out slope protection,in order to maintain the highway for a long and reliable service life.This paper systematically analyzes the causes and danger of common road illness,e.g.slope collapse,landslide,debris flow etc.To prevent such road illness,we must give the slope scientific and reasonable protection in advance.Considering the answers to the question,firstly the paper states how to analyze the stability of high slope in using of two main analytical methods,i.e.engineering geological method and mechanics calculation method,of which the line method,circular slice method and Bishop method are the key ones.On the basis of comprehensive consideration of the geological,hydrological,climatic and local material supply conditions,the paper using “Ankang Road” in Xing county Lvliang city as an example analysis the different forms of slope protection types,such as engineering protection,plant protection,framework plant protection etc.This paper offers specific details on how design scientific slope protection according to local natural conditions,in order to maintain the highway for a long and continuous service life.
