As the DC power system is widely used in many fields such as electric vehicles,aerospace,ships,power grid systems,etc,DC arc fault occurs more and more frequently.The DC arc needs more comprehensive and in-depth research in arc characteristics,simulation,theoretic analysis and calculation.Based on the analysis of overseas and domestic research status about DC arc fault,this paper analyzes and investigates series DC arc fault which occurs frequently and can not be extinguished easily in two ways of test analysis and theory.An arc fault simulation test platform was set up according to the standard UL1699 B.The voltage and current data of resistor load and inductive load were collected when the two kinds of load were tested.The characteristics of DC arc voltage and current were analyzed in time domain.Study and comparison on different characteristics of voltage and current in starting and extinguishing time were also given.The characteristics of DC arc duration are analyzed.The arc dynamic mathematical model was studied.The principle and building methods of classical arc model were also given.Based on the classical Mayr arc model,DC arc simulation circuit was built in MATLAB.Simulation of resistor load and inductive load were carried out,and the results were compared to the experiment.Effects of inductance on current were analyzed under the study of DC arc in different inductance value.According to the DC arc voltage and current waveform characteristics of resistance circuit,arc condition of voltage and current were analyzed and striking voltage was given.The expressions of arc starting current,arc extinguishing voltage and arc extinguishing current were worked out based on the arc characteristics,energy balance principle and arc extinguishing theory.At the same time,the influence conditions of arc duration were analyzed from the views of voltage and current.The study above can be a reference to further research work.
