Marine engine room,as the core part of a ship,is constituted by a great many components,such as equipment,pipelines and main cables.Special attention should be paid to the comprehensive layout and planning of the engine room in designing and manufacturing.At present,some production and design enterprises do not well organize the planning of the engine room,giving rise to constant improvement and coordination at later periods which would delay the design and production efficiencies of the engine room,affect the ship-building cycle and even harm the construction quality and safety of the ship-building.The planning work,as the foundation of the design and production of the engine room,has undoubtedly played an important role in the design and production.It does not only directly affect the specific position and route for the model-building and lofting of the engine room,it also indirectly exerts influences on the construction quality of the shipyard and utilization of the vessel.With the development of digitized ship-building,CAD software has been adopted instead of the traditional manual drawing to plan the engine room.Furthermore,the three-dimensional model of ship after planning can be simulated in a virtual environment,bringing great benefits to the quality improvement of shipyard construction.However,without a superior planning flowchart and method for the planning of engine room in modern times,the planning utilization rate has always remained low.Even worse,the continuous adjustment and improvements at later periods would severely affect the working efficiency of the ship design company.Therefore,a planning flowchart and method put forward on the basis of researches concerning the engine room planning are very helpful for both the ship design companies and shipyard to improve their utilization rates of planning.By studying the bottom-layer area of the engine room for some ship,the major research contents and methods are as follows:(1)The planning of the marine engine room was systematically introduced.Method and means for the planning of the marine engine room based on modern ship-building mode were illustrated.The planning flowchart of the engine room guided by the principle of regional planning was proposed.(2)Each part of the engine room planning was systematically analyzed.The planning system for each part of the planning was proposed.Meanwhile,the planning process andmethods for each part of the planning were analyzed,based on which the general principle that should be followed in the process of planning was illustrated in a systematical way.(3)Taking the bottom-layer area of the engine room for the ship of 5300 TEU as an example to make a planning and build a three-dimensional model for the bottom-layer area of the engine room.Then,the feasibility of this planning method and flowchart was verified and the model after the planning was adjusted.(4)A virtual human model was set up on the platform of TRIBON.In line with the theory of ergonomics,a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation was carried out on the model of the engine room’s bottom-layer area for the ship of 5300 TEU after planning.The bottom-layer framework and proposal for the engine room planning introduced in this article have provided some reference values and assistances for the design and production of the engine room.
