In order to meet the transmission requirements of smart grid, power companies undertaking power grid construction and operation have built 230 MHz,400MHz and 1.8GHz wireless private network. However, power companies who carry out various types of wireless network planning, construction and operation and maintenance, coverage prediction, conduct base station location and resource allocation by experience, the initial design doesn't have analytical tools and base station location has strong randomness;in the process of operation and maintenance, there is no scientific basis for the adjustment and relocation of base station.Radio wave coverage prediction is not only an important basis for base station location, but it can also provide important support for the analysis of interference between adjacent base stations, the rationality of frequency allocation and resource allocation. In this thesis, according to the practical needs of the wireless network coverage prediction,we build a propagation model based on real data revisions, and design radio coverage prediction system based on Geographic Information System,so as to predict the spatial field intensity distribution of the base station and improve the rationality and efficiency of the network planning and construction.(1)Radio wave propagation and propagation effects were introduced;the key parameters of radio coverage prediction were determined;the application scope and characteristics of Okumura model,Hata model,COST231 model,Walfisch-Bertoni model and SPM model are analyzed,so that different basic propagation models were selected for wireless networks with different working frequency bands;then, the empirical conclusions of the influence of terrain factors on radio wave propagation were summarized.(2)Radio wave propagation model was mainly used for coverage prediction of wireless network planning, then we performed base station location and resource allocation.Aiming at SPM model,we used the measurements of specific application environment correction to obtain localized SPM model parameters,CW test method was used to build the test environment, the modification plan and process of the SPM model was designed based on the least squares algorithm;we proposed a digital map editing scheme, which superimposed satellite images and high-level information on raster data, achieving interoperability between ARCGIS Engine and digital maps, thus, the data model based on geographic information was provided for the research and development of the radio coverage prediction system of power wireless network.(3)A set of radio coverage prediction system for power wireless network was designed and developed, the overall architecture design of the system was given, then,we selected and built the system development and operation platform, described the methods and effects of the core functions such as map browsing, spatial measurement, base station location, model selection, prediction analysis, coverage of thematic maps, coverage statistics and file export;fterwards, the effectiveness and feasibility of the system was verified by two examples.
