Substation is all important part of the power grid;it directly affects the security and stability of electric power systems and also contacts the power stations and power consumers.People’s production and life are seriously affected once the substations ale broKe down.So the importance of substation is beyond doubt.Grid of Baotou lies to the center of grid of Inner Mongolia grid,which taKes on the responsibility of supplying power to the hole city.The development of Baotou power grid is very fast and its scale becomes larger,the customer has asKed more about power quality.It demands a higher level of substation’s compactness and practicality in power construction because of land resource is limited,meanwhile the time of devising substation continues to be shorten due to technological development.All these factors need US to study and explore continually for seeKing better design methods,then more efficient substations are designed to meet the social need which grows day by day.Combining features of grid of Binhe,one 220 KV substation is designed in this thesis.Three voltage grades in the substation : 220KV/110KV/10 KV.The design plan is demonstrated from site-selection,overall structure,electrical primary system.electrical secondary system,communication system in the paper.The part of site-selection analyses hydrology,weather,geology around the substation,and project cost is studied in the part of economic analysis.The overall design expounds design philosophy and basic requirement of main electrical connection,also the load conditions of Baotou city are analyzed and overall structure of substation is painted.Electrical primary system design of the east Baotou city demonstrates main wiring scheme,transformer capacity and model,neutral point treatment and reactive power compensation.The choice Electrical Equipment is completed by short-circuit calculation.Power distribution unit,lightning protection and ground grid ate also designed in this part.Electrical secondary system design of the east Baotou city includes devising computer supervision and control system and arranging secondary equipment.Communication mode,optical cable standard and networKing mode are selected in communication system allocation plan by planning communication networK.Design rationalization of optical cable line and selecting extensible strongly optical transmission equipments are accomplished in this part.At last,communication power supply system is designed,then the communication system can be used to connect metrical information and monitor message among the substations.
