Research On The Pattern Of Sponge Public Space In Winter Cities From The Perspective Of Traditional Wisdom

In recent years,China promotes the construction of sponge cities vigorously.Several ministries issue policy documents of sponge city and set specific goals.However,current theories and methods are all based on green infrastructure and they are not suitable in winter cities.This paper will study the traditional wisdom of water control and summarize the methods in traditional models.The model wisdom will provide fresh ideas for the construction of sponge city in cold weather.It sums up the concepts and features of public sponge space and also points out the urgent need of combining urban sponge facilities and urban public space together from comparing and analyzing the site selection and facilities layout.On this basis,it studies and analyzes the ancient flood control strategies and water management experiences in the northern countries of China and then discovers the plenty wisdom of water management.Based on the ancient methods of flood control,it studies with a series of methods such as field research,document research,graphical method and summarizing method.It also does research in the ancient flood control strategies and there are four water management spatial patterns,“high”,“defense”,“dredge” and “store” respectively.Among these patterns,the space type number of “store” pattern is the highest,including “pond”,“well”,“cistern” and “well-cistern”.All these strategies and spatial patterns reflect that the traditional wisdom is simple and modest.Research finds that the traditional water management wisdoms include four aspects and they are concentrating not only on flood control but also saving water,basing on physical structure but not green plants,making space multifunctional and reflecting the characteristics of low-tech and low-cost.Finally,it concentrates on the contemporary sponge public spaces from the perspective of traditional water management wisdom,and finds out the basic principle of sponge public space is “store” and “dredge”,combine with “defense” and “high”.The sponge city public space is divided into six basic types with the view of traditional water management wisdom from plenty of sponge public space cases and it is based on four factors: storage capacity,spatial form,control objectives and wet-dry form,then classfies these cases into six basic forms.It extracts and summarizes three space forms and water management patterns of sponge public spaces with the method of typology and diagram and they are “store-drain” pattern of plane sponge public space,“drain” pattern of linear sponge public space,“drain-store-drain” pattern of linear-plane pattern sponge public space.Research finds that the water management wisdom shows in contemporary sponge public spaces.The wisdom embodies the traditional Chinese philosophy and achieves good effects in contemporary practices.These prove its important academic research and reference value.It will provide benefits for the sponge city construction in winter cities in studying from those contemporary sponge public space cases with the perspective of traditional water management wisdoms.
