Research On The Formal Characteristics Of The Modern Guangzhou Building Exterior Facing

Guangzhou is located in Lingnan,where the modern architecture has the first place to absorb foreign culture.Based on the traditional decorative arts,such as brick and stone carving,color plasterwork,lime modeling,etc.,a variety of architectural facing have been developed,such as plain brick wall,stone veneer,stucco,Shanghai Plaster,terrazzo,tiles finishes,all kinds of facings are colorful,which constitute the unique characteristics of Guangzhou city style elements.This paper tries to study the formal characteristics of modern buildings' exterior facings in Guangzhou.The main types,forms and various combinations of exterior facings had been categorized through the spot investigation,mapping drawings and relevant document's collection.Based on the study of the formal characteristics,this paper discusses the value continuation and protection suggestions in order to better the continuation of the traditional Guangzhou city landscape and historical and cultural landscape.This paper is divided into five chapters.In the first chapter,the author puts forward the research goal,expounds the research status,defines the scope of the research work,and organizes the framework of the paper according to the research method.Chapter 2 to Chapter 5 are the text of the paper.The second chapter studies the background of the exterior facings of Guangzhou modern architecture,traces the local foundation and western influence of the exterior facing.Based on the study of the production of facing materials,the chapter makes a classification of the exterior facing.In the third chapter,the main types of exterior facings are studied.Through the examples research and detailed sample,the chapter summarizes the general application situation,facing composition and formal presentation.The fourth chapter studies the diversified combinations of exterior facing,combs the formal characteristics,and then makes a comparison with typical examples.The fifth chapter studies the influencing factors of the exterior facing of the modern building in Guangzhou.The chapter starts from the expression of the price of the raw material,the "identity" and the architectural style of the building,then the author explores the relationship between the exterior facing and the architectural identity and architectural style.At last,the author judges the value of the facings,and then provides advice on the continuation of the value of the facings.
