Traditional residence is an important carrier of Chinese Traditional Architectural Culture and Heritage,and it is an important part of rural residence in China.It not only contains a wealth of ecological building experiences,but also represents the traditional regional culture which carrying a strong nostalgia to many people.Nowadays,the number of traditional towns based on rural market trade is large and widely distributed in Chongqing.To a certain extent,it has activated the local culture and economy.Due to it has been built for many years,however,most of them is cannot be used today.At the same time,as people’s quality of life and economic conditions are improving,the indoor thermal comfort expectations has also been increased.As a result,the indoor environment of the existing traditional residence has been unable to meet people’s living demand.Therefore,the study of traditional residence which is in the traditional towns have a great significance on promoting the development of Traditional Chinese Architectural Culture and Sustainable.And it will be used to improve the indoor thermal environment,thereby enhancing the quality of human settlements.Based on the research of literature,field investigation,case study and simulation,this paper analyzes the existing problems of the traditional residence which in the traditional towns in Chongqing.The technology system which is suitable for the transformation of traditional residence was screened and was regrouped,and it was used in a retrofit project which is a demonstration building in the town of Anju,Chongqing.Finally,the measured data is used to quantitatively assess the effect of the retrofitted residence and verify the feasibility of the technology.Firstly,field research is conducted for interior space characteristics and indoor environment of the traditional residential in different towns.The questionnaire has shown that,the existing traditional buildings gradually tend to empty nest,and the residential functional layout and indoor physical environment,especially the light environment and thermal environment,cannot meet the needs of users,so people have a strong willingness to transform.Then,the typical building was selected to measure the thermal environment and found that the retrofit potential of the roof is very large,which is the most urgent and most effective site to retrofit.The indoor thermal environment of typical residence in different towns is measured and it is found that the indoor thermal environment is very poor.Especially in the loft,the average temperature is higher than the outdoor in the summer.Its temperature fluctuation is about twice of the first floor.Using time-sharing evaluation of residence indoor thermal environment found that the thermal comfort of the main room in the daytime was very poor.Comparing of different layout of the residence in the typical day to achieve Ⅱ level or above the standard cumulative time found that the longest cumulative time is perpendicular to the contour line layout of the typical residence.But it also accounted for only 29.2% of the day.Bedroom in the middle had good thermal comfort at night,which got to Ⅱ level or above was 66.7%.However,it is poor lighting effects in daytime.The second floor of the room in nighttime and daytime achieved the large difference at the Ⅱ level or above,and more than 50% of the nighttime can reach Ⅱ level or above,but only about 10% during the daytime.Then combined the climatic characteristics of Chongqing with the software simulation of passive strategies finds suitable for the area of the passive design which should be combined with natural ventilation,enclosure thermal storage performance and night ventilation and other comprehensive measures.Put forward the suitable technology for the optimization of the traditional residence in Chongqing,according to the characteristics of the traditional residence and the problems found in the research.Finally,the use of retrofit technology in the demonstration building of Anju town is to verify it.The field research could quantitate the demonstration of architectural features and indoor physical environment problems,and used the improved functional layout and optimized the physical environment integration of integrated transformation measures to improve the comfort of its indoor environment.Through the measurement of the indoor thermal environment after the renovation,it is found that room which the indoor average temperature is the worst in summer is reduced by 1.1 ℃,and increased by 1.2 ℃ in winter.Indoor thermal environment in uncomfortable time period reduced from 50% to 37.5% before the renovation.After the renovation of the demonstration in the construction of the ground wet problem has been improved significantly,and the longest condensation in May only is 1/7 before the renovation.Used DesignBuilder and Phoenics software to simulate the building energy consumption and indoor wind environment.The results show that the indoor wind speed is better than that before,and the indoor wind speed is more than 0.4m / s.However,the building energy saving rate is 54.35%.
