Research On Visual Search Performance Of Airport X-ray Machine Operator

The X-ray examination of passenger baggage is an important part of the civil aviation transportation safety system.This is a special kind of target more visual search process,when X-ray machine operators check passenger baggage to look for contraband in particular background.The passenger baggage X-ray images is shown by computer screen s.Different items present different lines and colors.X-ray machine operator determines whether luggage contains contraband quickly by looking at the item's color and shape.They eyes are frequently moved between computer screens and keyboards,in order to obtain the required visual information in that process.In consideration of severe losses brought by the difficult inspection tasks and the ACTS of terrorism,X-ray machine operators play an increasingly important role in the modern civil aviation security.This study simulates the security check of passenger baggage.Experimental design method is using 2 experience levels(high and low)× 2 pictures difficulty(difficult and simple)× 2 limit time(long and short)mixed experimental design.This study carries out the eye movement experiment to collect the date of subjects,such as fixation count,fixation time and scanning time,pupil diameter and blinking.And the interest area and heat map is used to analysis the attention distribution of the X-ray machine operator when they are checking contraband,and the effect of the experience and the difficulty of images and time pressure on visual search performance is explored.Through correlation analysis,the correlation of the visual search performance and eye movement indices is explored.Conclusion is got by experiment and data analysis: 1)X-ray machine operator has the advantage of speed and accuracy,the higher their visual search performance.In the detection and identification of contraband,they faster and more accurate than novice group.X-ray machine operator better detection ability through the higher hit rate and lower non-response rates and reflected.At the same time,the X-ray machine operator in a short period of time at interest in visual search effect is better than novice;2)the visual search performance and looking times accounted for,looking time ratio,the number of regression,regression time of have a bigger relevance and fixation time for the first time,and fixation time for the first timethat a indicators and the performance of visual search correlation coefficient is the largest,most relevant;3)in the search for contraband pictures throughout the process,experienced with scanning X-ray machine operators,and fixation time is shorter.And they look at track is characterized by integral feeling is simple,clear,there are rules to follow,fixation point scattered in various areas.X-ray machine operator has a better detection ability,more effective search strategy.Novice group of participants watched trajectory characteristics are complicated and messy,no law,and to watch route multiple occurrences of the overlay,fixation point more concentrated in certain areas,to a certain place looking at for a long time.
