This paper aims at the welding of the intersecting welds of the anchor chain,and we will study and design a set of automatic welding equipment for joining studs to anchor chains with multi specifications.Automatic welding equipment for joining studs to anchor chains with multi specifications is studied and designed to realize the automatic welding of the intersecting lines between anchor chains and their studs.Based on the investigation of development of automatic welding equipment at home and abroad,the mathematical modelof orthogonal intersecting line,as well as the welding torchvelocity and its spatial attitude models,are established by combining with the three-dimensional characteristics of intersecting welds.Comparison of conventional mechanical tracking system with laser vision tracking system is made to determine the best seam tracking method in current equipment.Besides,after analysis of welding technology,manufacture procedure,design difficulties of the intersecting line,the overall design scheme of the equipment is worked out.Modular design and interval welding strategy are applied to the welding equipment to complete the joining of the whole anchorcable.Vertical links in the cable are welded first at flat position,and then neighboring links are jointed after a 90° rotation of the anchor cable.The welding seam recognition and auto-tracking system is utilized to identify the start position of welding seam and then to track the intersecting line.The automatic joining of studs to chains is essentially completed by the using of welding robots.Three-dimensional modeling is performed for components of the welding equipment such as mechanical drive system,frame platform and welding stations.After that details of components are given on the understanding of their mechanisms,and then mechanical simplification and checking calculation are carried out for components including the drive motor and the leading screw.The control system of the welding equipment is built taking the Siemens S7-200 programmable controller as its core.I/O port of the control system and their internal address are allocated,and control orders are programmed.Finally,program debugging and execution of the control system are performed based on computer simulation.The automatic welding equipment designed for intersecting line welds between anchor links and their studs provides a solution to problems such as low welding efficiency and unstable welding quality in manual welding technology,which could not only meet demands forstud welding in anchor cables with different specifications,but alsopresent a reference for study and development of similar welding equipment.
