During a century since modern architecture movement began to bud in Germany,there appeared a group of architects and structural engineers who have progressive ideas and excellent professional ability in Stuttgart.There was a clear development skeleton and inherited relationship in Stuttgart School which centered on University of Stuttgart,and representative in different decades have important international influence,such as Theodore Fisher and Frei Otto.As a modern architecture movement group who combined with teach,research and practice,Stuttgart School has much more contribution to discipline development than any other usual local schools,and not only just influent on architectural style,but also on research methods,design concept and architectural technology.This paper is based on such regional phenomenon in modern architecture.In China the society attach great importance to building “Two Type” society and green ecological economy to deal with the ecological problem.The research result and experience of Stuttgart School on interdisciplinary study and sustainable development could provide references for our country in several area especially in construction industry.The idea of Stuttgart School first appeared in review articles in 1928,and it was used to describe and summarize the people and their achievement influenced by modern architecture education which start in Stuttgart institute from 1900 s.Then the idea was accepted and followed to refer to architecture school of University of Stuttgart which was built after WWII.After the 60 s,it was extended with the development of achievement in interdisciplinary area by Stuttgart School and then followed to date.The spiritual core inherits and the teaching method develops well by close mentoring relationship of tutors and their students,though it seems that different appearance in different time the Stuttgart School has.Thus it is necessary and significant to take development history of different time as a whole for research.The study firstly do a lot of research work on historical and related documents,and then organize the development history of Stuttgart School based on the background of social development and discipline development.Secondly,it tells the whole history of school in the area of architecture teach,research and practice,with some important events and representative.Therefore this paper appears the turning point and sustainable history in a more comprehensive perspective,so could to make the figures and the value of Stuttgart School much easier to be understanded.Also it lays a solid foundation for further research. |
