In recent years,cargo pilots' workload in China have been unable to meet the needs of the development of cargo aviation,due to the rapid development of the country's cargo aviation and the continuing increase in air traffic.The flights of cargo air are all "night flight".Shift work has a main consequences that crew members who are working through the window of circadian low can be expected to be sleepy and have to make additional effort to maintain their performance.The CCAR-121 clearly stipulates period limitations,flight time restrictions,and rest requirements.But flight and duty time limitations do not capture all the causes of fatigue,which are different in different types of operations.Therefore,it is necessary to study the cargo pilots fatigue in depth.The fatigue factors of cargo pilots are extracted through document analysis,work characteristics analysis,regulations of cargo air and civil aviation authority analysis and behavioral event interview.Combined with the research of fatigue monitoring method,we composed a “cargo pilots fatigue and factors affecting fatigue questionnaire” which passed reliability and validity analysis.We conducted a survey to analyze cargo pilot fatigue in a Chinese cargo airline.Survey found that:(1)In contrast to the commercial pilots,cargo pilots experienced more serious general fatigue;(2)In contrast to the commercial pilots and average person,cargo pilots had poor sleep quality.Based on the collected data,we selected that the main factors from personal information,work-related factors and sleep fators most crucially influenced cargo pilots' fatigue.The correlation coefficients of each variable,along with the degree of fatigue,were calculated using grey relational analysis,which was used to identify the key factors that influence pilot fatigue.Based on the results of grey relational analysis,we got seven factors that influence fatigue.A cargo pilots' fatigue-cause contingency table was established,then a two-dimensional scatter plot was got by using SPSS to deal with the table by the way of correspondence analysis,which realized data visualization.Summarizing the results of data analysis,pilots' fatigue risk sources were established.Combined with sleep science and the actual operation of cargo airlines,fatigue management measures were proposed.The purpose of this study is to determine the key factors that influence faitigue of cargo pilots by analyzing the operational characteristics of cargo pilotsand data analysis.On the basis of data analysis,supplemented by fatigue science research,put forward fatigue management measures.
