Pallet truck is one of the most important types of forklift truck, a kind of logistics handling equipment for transporting goods, which is driven by hydraulic control system for lifting and dropping, mainly used for warehousing, logistics, transportation and systematically handling with goods. It could greatly improve labor productivity, reduce labor burden and labor the risk. Pallet truck has the advantages of simple operation, and can be applied to all kinds of environment. In recent years it has been more and more widely used in the production line manufacturing site. As the most important working component of pallet truck, forks have weak harsh stress with uncertainty, often become fractured of insufficient strength, which leads to operation failure, lessen the usage of pallet truck, causing economic losses, and even the occurrence of safety accidents.With the development of pallet industry and in-depth analysis of technology, a variety of advanced computational methods(such as analysis of finite element simulation, ABAQUS, etc.) is gradually being applied to research on pallet truck structure. However, the research on forks, both at home and abroad, are mainly focused on materials improvement, like forging process optimization and increasing the structure size and other aspects. There is less research on the aspects of optimizing fork structure to improve the stress distribution and the reliability. This paper illustrates the research on finite element simulation which is used to improve the structure of the pallet truck..The main contents of this paper are as follows:First of all, through theoretical analysis, it studies the weak link of the traditional forks and puts forward three optimization plans for fork structure and makes theoretical analysis on the feasibility.Secondly, finite element method simulation software is used to simulate three kinds of optimization structure. It studies three kinds of optimization plans under the yoke of stress and deformation, and separately analyzes and compares the simulation results of three structure optimization, then makes final decision by increasing the buffer and local strengthening.Thirdly, strength test and reliability test. According to the GB standard requirements, for improved forklift, we carried out yield test, fatigue test and nondestructive inspection, test results turned out the feasibility of the optimization. In addition, we made the statistical calculation of the MTBF, an indicator of reliability, to get actual production in 200 hours with a total of 5600 cycles. The test results show that the reliability of improved pallet trucks have been effectively improved 15%This paper, based on the analysis of the traditional pallet truck structure and combined with finite element simulation, it achieves the improvement of efficiency of the pallet truck by increasing the buffer and local reinforcement. It provides a reference for the practical application of the pallet truck, and has important practical significance.
