With the commercial promotion of the rotor UAV in recent years, UAV technology has been progressing forward. The energy issue has been a critical factor in applications of UAV. With the limitations of energy technology, the endurance of UAV is also less than three hours.Airship is a type of aircraft which is lighter than air. Airship filled with helium gas which the density smaller than air. The weight of the airship is counteracted by the buoyance of the air. Airship propulsion system only needs a little thrust to push the airship to fly. The greatest strength of the airship is long endurance and the large load.The endurance of airship is usually evaluated by "hours" or "days". This kind of characteristic has broad application in both civil and military fields.Small airship which Use aero engine as a propulsion system, the fuel is the main energy source. The efficient control of the engine and the utilization rate of the fuel directly affect the endurance of the airship. Paper adopts Limbach L275 E type piston engine designed a set of engine control system for small airship. This system can monitoring the status of fuel supply system, control the pump and detect the speed of the engine, monitoring the temperature of the tanks. Grasp all key nodes of the propulsion system.Paper firstly introduced airship research status at home and abroad. Emphatically analyzing the problem of the propulsion system and according these problems proposed concrete solutions. Finally, according to the actual needs of airship carry out a detailed experimental verification. Obtained the throttle-thrust curve and the throttle-speed curve.Thrust control function of L275 E is got from curve fitting. Cortex-M4 high performance microcontroller combined with magneto rotor signal acquisition circuit, thermocouple temperature acquisition circuit and other sensor modules, with efficient software control,the engine control system designed. After testing and verifying, this system met the design requirements and use requirements for small airship.
