Under the continuous pressure and grooming process of China's economy,urbanization and population. Although the construction of railway transit system has been keeping up with the pace, the passengers' demand is still far above the capability of the railway network,resulting in the congestion in some stations during rush hours, especially transit stations.Based on passenger flow controlling and traffic organization optimization, this thesis proposes to divert passenger flow through providing route guidance for passengers, utilizing relatively less traffic sections to ease the pressure of the congested sections. This study expands in the following branches.(1)The congestion of railway network is in-depth analyzed. The causes and characteristics of large passenger flow is investigated.(2) The influence of traffic organization optimization and passenger flow control in stations on the traffic congestion of the existing urban rail transit is studied in detail. The approach to facilitate traffic from congested sections to less-traffic sections, by providing route guidance for passengers is proposed.(3) The effective route of rail transit is defined, and three effective route algorithms which are mature nowadays are introduced. Considering their advantages and disadvantages respectively, Depth-First-Search algorithm with additionally relative constrains is selected.Employing this algorithm, the program for effective route search is finished by Matlab software.(4) From the perspective of individual passenger, the factors which affect passengers'route selection are analyzed in detail, and the corresponding impedance function and Logit model for passengers' route selection are developed.(5) On the basis of Depth-First-Search algorithm and Logit model, the model for simulation of passenger flow of rail transit is built by Matlab Software.(6) Based on peak-hour data acquired from Chengdu Metro line in the morning,employing Lingo software, a set of OD data which fit well to current trend of passenger flow is obtained. This set of data is used in simulation model as input and its output is used to evaluate the condition of network. By analyzing passenger flow and network structure and adding transfer delay impedance for key stations, simulation will be done again. Comparing the two sets of statistics,the number of waiting people in stations and passenger flow in sections are analyzed. It is proved to be an effective method to divert large passenger flow by providing route selection guidance.
