Light steel structure have been widely used in practical industrial buildings because of advantages such as its light weight,high strength,easy installation and construction.This type of structure used generally color plate or sandwich color plate as its envelope.These color plates itself has a great ability to resist shear force,and participate in the overall structural force bearing,has a strengthening effect greatly to the main structure and greatly improving the spatial integrity of the structure.This enhancement effect is called the skin effect.This paper first elaborates the value and significance of this subject from the aspects of the necessity of structural seismic design and the safety contribution and economic contribution of the skin effect to the engineering structure.At the same time,it also reviews the theoretical and experimental research and the research results of the skin effect in the domestic and overseas in recent years.Secondly,the skin effect is introduced from the aspects of action principle,necessary condition and basic assumption.And then summarizes the common composition and style of the current skin structure.Then,according to the engineering example of 1 # warehouse in Kaifeng City,Henan Province,the building information model was established by REVIT software and imported into the finite element analysis software SAP2000 to analyze and study the structure analysis process under BIM concept.Finally,the model considering the skin effect and the model without considering the skin effect respectively are analyzed by modal analysis method,equivalent base shear method and the time history analysis method under the frequent earthquake.Seismic waves selected two natural seismic waves(EMC-FAIRVIEW AVE wave and CPC_TOPANGA CANYON wave)and one synthetic wave(Lanzhou wave).After the above analysis,the two structures are compared by the natural frequency,the self-oscillation period and the displacement time-history curve,velocity timehistory curve and acceleration time-history curve of the relevant nodes.It is proved that the skin effect has a significant effect on the force and stiffness of the whole structure.
