In light steel structure, if proper connections are made between profiled steel sheet and steel members, the sheet can resist shear force in their own plane, the shear behavior is named stressed skin diaphragm. If the panels have a reliable connection with beam-column member, that not only increase the whole rigidity of structure, decrease the deformation, but also as a important part of the main body, utilizes sufficiently the re-sheer ability of profiled sheet in the plane. So, considering the ability of resistance to shear of profiled sheet in the plane itself, not only reflect the working of structure but also obtain benefit t. Although a lot of research and experiments on the performance of stressed skin have been carried out in the western countries and China, but the past research work was mostly focused on skin diaphragms, especially on the connection between clad shells or clad shells and their sustaining bars, while there was hardly any research and experiment on the buildings with clad structure as a whole. On the basis of the research results, use the finite element analysis software "ANSYS" and the finite element method for geometric nonlinear analysis of diaphragm structure under static loading is presented in this paper by finite-element software. By comparing the result of analysis of the models it finds the contributions of skin to buildings, such as the distribution law of internal force and the situation of deformation.First, Select the appropriate unit and set up the models, analysis of diaphragm braced columns under static loading. The results have good agreements with the result of other's experiments, so we can analyze the structure with this method. Then analysis of the single-storey buildings with stressed skin diaphragm, the results accord with the Britain of standard very well, so the method is feasible.Second, comparing the single layer of light steel structure and the cold-formed thin-wall steel structure between considering stressed skin diaphragm and without considering stressed skin diaphragm, then the effect of space of the column of the cold-formed thin-wall steel structure are studied. Considering the need of making openings in the real structure, analysis of the structures with two common openings and the effect of the stressed skin action of roof sheeting, gable sheeting, wall sheeting to the buildings, select the best position for openings. In addition, the thickness of the panel, the X of the column and the section of the gable bracings are studied.Finally, some conclusions and suggestions that are important to design and construct are obtained, and which provides a good basis for the further research of the stressed skin diaphragm structure.
