As an important part of closed cycle diesel engine , the water management system provide fresh seawater carbon into dioxide absorber to absorb emissions of CO2, also exhaust seawater which contains CO2 to overboard at the same time. This system creates a way which can change high pressure fluid to low pressure fluid without using too much power no matter how deep the submarine is. This paper researches free-piston type water management system through simulation and experimental verification, and from the structure and control methods we design the integrated water management system to make the water management system more practical and engineering. This paper includes the following aspects:According to the water management system requirements, Magnetic proximity switch is selected and installed on the converter, also the three-way valve is tested to automatic control,the original free-piston converter is improved to accommodate existing valve. We design single cylinder water management system and establish the test bench. By cylinder automatic operation system, we get traffic characteristic curve of two loops with PLC and PC, three-way valve is proved that it can be the valve of water management system.For the existing form of the free piston, a buffer is designed to reduce velocity of the piston when it reaches the point of deceleration stop. To make sure the stability and effectiveness of the buffer, the mathematical model of the cushioning device is simulated in a variety of environments.Twin-cylinder, three-cylinder and six-cylinder physical model of water management system is established in AMESim software, the theory of water management systems is proved, also we provide theoretical basis and reference for future multi-cylinder system test.Due to the stringent requirement of the space in submarine and integration on water management system, new converter is designed in order to shorten the length of the connecting rod between the three-way valve, a new four-way valve is also designed to replace three-way valve. With these new designs, the project of six-converter integrated water management system is developed for the first time in China. At last we research the problem of power matching between water management system and closed cycle diesel engine.Through the above research, practical water management systems engineering process is promoted,it has a very important reference for further study on water management system and closed cycle diesel engine.
