With the development of "dark blue" strategy and marine industry, many researches about ocean have raised the considerable concern. Marine environment simulation has been a hot topic in the field of military simulation technology, aerospace, special-effects in film.Since virtual reality technology can be applied into technology decisions, theoretical verification and assessment,and effect enhances in various domain, it is a main technology in the marine environment simulation. This paper researches the 3D marine environment simulation and the visualization of environmental object and data for the docking process of the offshore drilling platform and fixed platform based on virtual reality technology and Vega visual simulation platform, and mainly focuses on the dynamic ocean wave modeling,real-time rendering for ocean wave and the 3D simulation process of the offshore drilling platform and fixed platform based on Vega visual simulation platform. The major contents are summarized as follows:(1)A highly realistic modeling of dynamic ocean wave for marine environment simulation is very important, our primary research is dynamic ocean wave algorithms based on geometric theory. This paper present a novel dynamic ocean wave modeling method based on area partition and noise function by analyzing both ocean wave modeling methods based on physics and geometric models. First, this paper gets many different wave areas with entropy function and present area constraint function to get reasonable wave crest area.Second,noise function is run with different wave areas to improve high-frequency wave. This method is able to reduce computing and improve reality for ocean wave.(2) The real-time rendering dynamic ocean wave is a key component for marine environment simulation, to solve the slow speed of dynamic ocean wave rendering; this paper proposes method takes advantage of the property of viewpoint movement to schedule the ocean wave model with different resolution. Firstly, this method divides the ocean into many small areas based on movement viewpoint attribute including view key area, view potential area and non view area. Secondly,this method schedules the different LOD data for different view area to improve efficiency for the rendering of dynamic ocean wave. Finally, the reality impression with texture mapping and illumination model is implemented based on the GPU to get a further improvement for rendering the ocean wave.(3) The models of three-dimensional offshore drilling platform and fixed platform are the important components for the marine drilling platform. A model simplification method from the aspects of the 3D model and texture mapping is proposed to solve the problem of huge amount of data and complexity of models. First of all, the invisible faces of three-dimensional models are deleted and the faces of cylinder are simplified, and then the texture mapping,instance of objects and external references technology are used to further simplify models to reduce the loading time of model and improve the efficiency.(4) The docking process of three-dimensional offshore drilling platform and fixed platform is a verification of the ocean wave modeling,the rendering of ocean wave and model optimization,which is a key step to the transformation form the technologies to applications.This paper implements the drilling process of the offshore drilling platform and fixed platform based on the Vega software, and the LynX environment is used to system configuration,and then the C system is used to further development. The system can fast load models, to ensure high-reality of model and enhance rendering speed.
