High power thrust sliding bearing is a kind of sliding bearing which can rely on the dynamic oil film between the bearing pad and the thrust plate to realize the large tonnage axial force transmission. It has been widely used in high power rotating machinery equipment such as nuclear power plant, thermal power turbine and hydropower unit. In this paper, the nuclear main pump thrust bearing is the experimental object and the test system is based on that. The performance of nuclear main pump thrust bearings is the key to long-term stable operation of nuclear power plant. Due to the technology blockade of nuclear power equipment from the US,Japan and other developed countries, to carry out independent research is the only way to develop nuclear power equipments. In order to realize the independent research and development of high power thrust sliding bearing, it is necessary to develop high power thrust sliding bearing performance test system. Therefore, the project team cooperates with a enterprise to design the bearing performance test system and to carry out the experimental research of high power thrust sliding bearing.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. Introduced the applications of high power thrust sliding bearing and and the present situation of thrust bearing at home and abroad.2. Introduced the design of high power thrust sliding bearing and its test bed. The finite element method is used to analyze the thrust plate of the loading system, and the strength and strain of the shaft are analyzed.3.The installation method and the assembly process,the precision detection of the test bed are analyzed. The precision and detection of the shafting system, the installation of the loader, the bearing and the bracket installation and the precision detection are introduced in detail.4.The finite element method is used to analyze the thrust bearing of nuclear main pump, analyzing the stress and strain distribution of bearing seat, connecting bolt and bearing bush, which provide the basis for bearing design.5.The test experiments were carried out on nuclear main pump thrust bearing. The test procedure was introduced, the test data was analyzed, and the wear of the loader was analyzed.
