Research On The Design Of Multifuncitonal Household Products For Children

Household products for Children refer to a class of appliance intended to cater for the healthy growth,the psychological and physiological characteristics of children under the age of 12,and fulfill children's needs in life,entertainment and study.According to statistics,China has more than 300 million children under 12 years old,but its household products only account for less than 5%in the world's market,demonstrating that the supply of household products for children is far more from meeting the needs of children nationwide and the industry is bound to have an optimistic prospect for development.With the rapid development of society,people's consumption concept has shifted from focusing on material performance to the modern consumption view emphasizing the diversity of functions and spirit transferring.In the current fast pace of life,in addition to work,young parents are more concerned about their children's growth.However,rather than a single function,the design of household products closely related to family life will favor more functions to meet children's needs.The purpose of this study is to design multifunctional household products for growing children,which can bring children new material existence ways,volatile visual perceptions,and different emotional experiences.For that reason,children and products can achieve the interaction at the realistic level and arouse sympathy at the psychological level,adding flexible variability and interestingness to the dreary living space.In this paper,research methods employed include literature research,field research,chart analysis,induction and deduction method,numerical modeling and so on.The study involves in knowledge of related disciplines like child psychology and behavioral science.The field research method was specially adopted to screen typical cases concerning children multifunction household products to carry out statistics,summary,and analysis and problems yet to be solved were proposed.Based on a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between the cognitive psychology and behavioral characteristics of children at different ages and of different genders and versatile household products for children,a systematic study of the multifunction feature in designing those household products was conducted from the perspectives of constituent elements,morphology,material,detail design,ergonomics and using functions.In addition,a more systematic and scientific design approach for household products for Children and a design solution for multifunctional integrated household products for Children were proposed.With respect to the constituent elements of design,the study put forward design elements for multifunctional type of household products for Children in compliance with the universal design principles summed up by predecessors.When designing the morphological structure,the 32mm system was introduced by emphasizing the principles of extensibility,transferability,composability and convertibility of multifunctional household products for children.In regard to material selection,it proposed that children household products should use nontoxic paper and knitted materials on the premise of abiding by national standards.For details,corner angles should be designed rounded.In terms of ergonomics,design should strictly adhere to the principles of ergonomics to set scientific scale for children household products from the perspective of the child psychology and physiology measurements.The using functions of children household products should lay much emphasis on its multifunctional demands.With 3D,Sketchup,Grasshopper digital modeling to validate and establish a design scheme for multifunctional children's household products,unsolved problems proposed by conducting field research and analyzing previous design experience were settled.Finally,the future design and the development tendency of household products for children with multifunctional features were envisioned to provide some inspiration and reference for future research in this area.
