ZhunChi electric railway,the national Class ? railway,is located in the northwest of ShanXi province.It's a million-ton coal special electric railway belonging to Chinese ShenHua Group and plays a key role in enhancing external accesses to energy sources stored in the western region of China.Researches on traction power supply technology and MSVC(Magnetic-bias-controlled electrical reactor type Static Var Compensator)new technology application of ZhunChi electric railway are of great practical significance in terms of the guarantees of ZhunChi electric railway's safety operations and successful completion.This thesis takes the construction of ZhunChi electric railway as the background and analyzes domestic and foreign research status,then proposes research tasks.According to the data collected,the natural environment along the ZhunChi electric railway,the distribution of power plant,substation in power system and the capacity of power supply are investigated.The parameters of those important equipments,which are related to the flexibility,safety,reliable power supply including main transformer,circuit breaker,disconnector and other facilities,have been calculated and selected based on actual situation.Considering the special situation that ZhunChi electric railway using SS4 electric locomotive as traction,the traction condition of SS4 electric locomotive have been analyzed,and the traction load current has been simulated by using electromagnetic transient analysis software,then found many harmonic components in current concentrated in the 3-11 sub harmonic mainly which might affect the quality and safety of ZhunChi electric railway traction power supply.For the harmonic harm to the traction load,comparing with the existing reactive power compensation technology,MCR has been researched by using DC assisted magnetic principle and the permeability of the iron core has been changed by using additional DC excitation,then found out a new reactive power compensation technology with continuous adjustable reactance.According to the ZhunChi electric railway engineering construction,parameters of the compensation devices based on the actual situation and put the new MSVC working are calculated and selected.Practical operation effects show that the application of new MSVC can reduce the harmonic component with a rate of more than 70%,and the monthly average value of the power factor is above 0.9.It has obvious effect on harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation and plays a positive role in operation safety and economy for the ZhunChi electric railway.
