Under the background of urbanization,development of city pays too much more attention to the speed than efficiency.On one hand,it has resulted in the less intensive using of urban land.Moreover,the land supply in big cities begins to be control.All these contribute to an urgent project:how to optimize the inventory space.On the other hand it also caused the plight of urban public space,the low quality of people's daily life in city and a faltering city.Streets,the city space characterized by widest distribution,highest utility and the most inclusiveness,had problems of inadequate consideration of humanity,entertainment and utility efficiency in design and building,a defect demonstrated in the guideline of speed priority in city development.Therefore,the streets suffered the plight of city space and required upgrade and improvement in various non-intensive use of city land.This thesis takes streets in Kunming old city core area as a research object.It has been studied a lot of times then summarized the different characteristics of the streets,and summed up six different types of streets.Through the establishing of street regeneration effect system,choosing three streets out of six street as the main study objects and studying them from spatial form,function layout and the utilization efficiency.It intends to know the internal relations and existing problems of the streets in the three aspects.Finally through raising of the problem solving strategy,it is concluded that the street regeneration needs studying from the street function classification,people's perspective orientation,"adaptive reuse" method and the gradual implementation route.
