Research On The Expansion Draft Of Three Gorges Navigation Capability

Yangtze River is the largest navigable river in the world,and is important transport links of China’s western hinterland and coastal areas.It distribute many mega-cities such as Shanghai,Nanjing,Wuhan and Chongqing in the Yangtze River areas,it also is the most dynamic and competitive region and plays a very important role in economic and social development of China.The construction of the Three Gorges Project has greatly improved navigation conditions and brought historic development opportunities for comprehensive transport,industrial layout and economic and social development in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.With a group of 5,000-ton specialization,large-scale port construction and operation,as well as large-scale and standardized ships development,the water traffic greatly increase and regional economic rapid growth in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.By 2011,the Yangtze River Three Gorges crossing the gate cargo volume has exceeded 100 million tons,19 years in advance to reach the Three Gorges ship lock design capacity.In the current and future,the Yangtze River economic belt and other national strategies will be further promoted,river basin economic activities are increasingly busy,waterway freight demand grows continuesly.The Three Gorges Project has brought far more than expected speed of development,its existing lock traffic capacity is insufficient,it has becoming the bottleneck of the development of Yangtze River shipping.In recent years,many domestic institutions have carried out research on the traffic capacity expansion of the Three Gorges Project from the perspective of the near and medium term,and put forward many excellent measures and suggestion.Based on the above reseach,it has studied new channel construction draft of the Three Gorges mainly from the long-term in this paper,and providied some resolve reference in order to fundamentally solve the bottleneck of the Three Gorges traffic capacity.The main conclusions as follows:(1)It has been studied and forcasted traffic freight through the Three Gorges lock.Based on the regional economic development level and characteristics,industrialization and urbanization level and trend in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River,the development of the integrated transportation,it was forcasted and put forward the freight demand through the Three Gorges lock.And it has verified the forcast results bymultiple ways.(2)It has put foeward the countmeasures to solute fundamentally bottleneck control in the long-term.In this paper,it has been detailed analysed the basic conditions and feasibility of the new channel construction of the Three Gorges Project,discussed comparatively the construction site,selection line and lock scale for the new channel.And it has been analysed comprehensively the Gezhouba lock renovation project,the waterway regulation project between the two dams(Three Gorges and Gezhouba).It has put forward the appropriate construction processes and crude estimate.The aboved reseach results can be reference to the project decision.
