There are about 4146 billion kw of water resources in China’s western region,accounting for 70% of the country’s total.Moreover,the vast majority of hydropower resources have not been developed,so there is a lot of space for the development of hydropower in Southwest China.At the same time,we established the plan,focusing on the construction of the main river hydropower station,the great strategy of scientific development of hydropower resources in the southwest,scientificly developing the hydropower resources in Southwest of China in the "13th Five-Year" plan in 2016.This shows that the state attaches great importance to the construction of water conservancy and hydropower,especially the southwest region where has abundant water resources.Arch dam is a water retaining structure used for blocking the development of hydropower resources in mountain valleys.The line of dam arch,from the initial single arch,to the later multi arch,parabolic arch,ellipse line arch,logarithmic spiral arch,did not have any new dam type.In order to adapt to different geological conditions,it is necessary to develop different types of arch dams.Therefore,this paper introduces a new type of line – Star Line,research.In this paper,the main work were done like that:First of all,the calculation formula of the star line is deduced,and the basic properties related to the arch dam are listed.Then,the mathematical model of the star shaped arch ring is derived by using the osculating circle envelope method.There are two kinds of methods for the design of arch crown beam due to the optimization of arch crown beam.This paper respectively established a number of arch crown beam model by using different β 1,β 2,S according to the two different methods.Then obtain the optimal parameters of arch crown beam by compared and analyzed the displacement and stress of the model under the action of gravity load.According to the curve of the arch ring and the curve equation of the arch crown beam,the VB program is compiled by using the macro function of auto.Three dimensional model of arch dam is obtained.And using ANSYS software,respectively analyzed displacement and stress on the star line arch dam in deadweight load,hydrostatic pressure load,temperature load,earthquake and three load combination,the results show that the star shaped line can be used as a type of arch dam.The results show that the star shaped line can be used as a type of arch dam.
