The Research On Protection And Utilization Strategies Of Xiaodianhe Traditional Dwellings And Village Public Spaces In Henan

In the process of getting along with nature, the Chinese nation has formed typical traditional villages with oriental characteristics. The legacy of traditional village is not only the result of historical precipitation, but also a reflection of unique regional cultural characteristics of different periods, so traditional villages are regarded as the spiritual home of the Chinese nation. As a kind of non-renewable material resources, traditional villages can provide valuable information for us to study the cultural life of residents in our country.However, in modern times, with the rapid development of modern industry and economy,China’s rural areas are experiencing unprecedented changes. In general, traditional villages are located in economically underdeveloped areas, local people are lacking in awareness of traditional architecture protection. Heritage conservation is often given place to economic development, which exacerbated the destruction and demise of traditional buildings to a certain degree. Meanwhile, there are problems as well in the process of protection and utilization of traditional villages. Firstly, design institutes carry out many designs of traditional village, which ignore the regional differences and practical realities of traditional villages. Such practice causes many traditional villages to have similar characteristics. Secondly, the theory about the protection and utilization of traditional villages is relatively deficient. The studies on traditional village protection are far more than traditional village utilization. In fact, simple protection fails to meet the villagers’ needs for modern life. Also protecting traditional villages as antiques is a waste of resources. In order to realize the sustainable development of traditional villages, it is necessary to make further research on the protection and utilization of the village public space.The paper selects well preserved Xiaodianhe traditional village in northern Henan as the research example. By using methods of literature review, field investigation and inductive analysis, the paper studies the protection and utilization strategies of the dwellings and public space in Xiaodianhe village. Based on the field investigation, the characteristics and current conditions of Xiaodianhe village are analyzed in detail. Then the problems existing in traditional dwellings and village public spatial form are analyzed and summarized separately.Finally, we put forward corresponding protection and utilization strategies of the dwellings and public space in Xiaodianhe village. The research on protection and utilization strategies of traditional dwellings and village public space in Xiaodianhe village may be helpful to realize the sustainable development of Xiaodianhe village.
