Since the 1978 Venice Cannaregio project,architect Peter Eisenman's exploration of history constantly presented in his works,which is a great difference with the idea of 1960-70s.During this period,his was greatly influenced by great figures such as Michel Foucault,and began projects under the theme of "City of Artificial Excavation".Eisenman's transplant and reference toward precedents,and thinking of history,the essence of architecture and its expressions are hidden behind,which beyond the prevailing.In 1980s,Jacques Derrida's deconstruction philosophy has become another theme of Eisenman's architectural practice,also has a direct influence on Eisenman's proposal design of Parc de la Villette.It can be said that from 1978 to 1987,Eisenman's works like pieces of interdisciplinary encyclopedia.Therefore,this study introduces ideas and theories of history,philosophy,religion and so on,looking back upon the development of these projects and implies,we shall also enjoy the unique charm of Eisenman's works.Through the study of early trajectory of Peter Eisenman,Colin Rowe and Giuseppe Terragni played an important role in Eisenman's thoughts of architecture,and built Eisenman a different understanding of modern architecture.In addition,the study also discusses the internal logic in the details of a few works from Eisenman's early days of cardboard houses(1967-1978)to mid time(1978-1987)which turn to history,text and other issues.Through in-depth revealing of the background interpretation of the inherent logic of this form of change,summarizing the characteristics of works in this period,and puts forward that the forms of design does not change the essence of the theory,but a more profound thinking from a different perspective on the essence of architecture.
