With the acceleration of urbanization process in China,car ownership is growing continuously,and the problem of traffic congestion and pollution has become more and more serious.The full excavation and optimal allocation of existing road facility resources is an effective way to improve the road capacity and alleviate the traffic congestion.In the urban road network,road intersection is the bottleneck of the road,so optimizing the capacity of the is helpful to improve the efficiency of the road network.Due to the two-phase signalized intersection occupies a large proportion in the urban intersections,so it is significant for optimizing its capacity.In this paper,the two-phase signalized intersection is the research object,and analyze the effect of different lane layout methods on the traffic congestion and efficiency by the VISSIM simulation software,then draw the solid evidence of lane layout in the two-phase signalized intersection.Firstly,this paper analyzes the corresponding research status at home and abroad by consult the literature,specification,technical manuals,and concludes the research status of intersection optimization,lane layout,as well as the development and application of traffic simulation.Secondly,this paper makes the detailed survey program and investigates the distribution,type,lane layout and characteristic of the two-phase signalized intersection,then establishes the basic model and mixed model of the tow phase intersection which four approaches are same and different respectively.Then,conducting the simulation experiment of the two-phase signalized intersection by VISSIM and verifying the applicability of existed specification by analyzing their disadvantages.Based on this,this research makes the detailed survey program which put the direction proportion of each approach as variable,and regard the queue length and delay time as the evaluation indicators.Finally,this paper obtains the novel quantitative specification for setting the left turn lane and turn right lane of three lanes two-phase signalized intersection,as well as the standard of optimal lane combination.By contrasting the simulation experiment of the mixed model to validate that the specification of setting the single approach lane is fully feasible,and the specification of basic intersection is significant for the general two-phase signalized intersection.On that basis,summarized the specification for each type of two-phase signalized intersection,and given the procedures and instructions for the practical application.
