Research On The Impact Of Electric Power PTN Protection Switching Mechanism On The Performance Of Communication Service

With the vigorous promotion of the smart grid and the informatization construction,the packet data is dominating the services.The stability,reliability and accuracy are more and more important to the electric power services,it comes up with a higher requirement of flexibility,efficiency and diversity.Traditional SDH/MSTP network works well in carrying services of production and control at present,while it can't meet the demand of the large number of IP service transmissions.PTN plays a more important role in supporting the communication of grid.With the algorithm of automatic protection switching and the function of monitoring the performance/alarm,PTN equipments will self-heal when network fails,which will ensure the integrity and quality of the data.This paper focus on the impact of PTN protection switching mechanism on the performance of communication service.First of all,we analyzed the mechanism and key technology that applicable to all kinds of protection switching of PTN network,and summarized the general function of PTN network protection.Compared with different ways of protection,we came up with all kinds of protections applied in the electric power communication.Second,we researched the impact of PTN protection switching on the basis of analyzing the performance of communication service for electric power communication.Then,we set up a platform of PTN transmission in the laboratory environment,tested the impact of different ways of protection switching,and came up with the result that acceptable effect would be set on the delay and reliability.At last,we made a test on the PTN network of Hebei Electric Power Company,the result showed it will have an impact on the TDM and Ethernet services,but acceptable.The research provides certain theory basis and data reference for the better use of electric power PTN protection switching for communication services,which provides technical support for manufacturers to improve the network survival mechanism.
