The paper study on the communication network reliability meaning based on the definition of general reliability. It proposes that the research of communication network reliability is families of systems, and adopts the grading method to divide the research content and system. The paper describes the method of reliability comprehensive evaluation. The basic principle of AHP and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process are mainly discussed. The paper analysis basic requests of relay protection signal for relay protection channel,the type and development direction of relay protection channel. Take the optical fiber protection channel as the object of study,the paper analysis factors that can reflect performance of the optical fiber protection channel, builds up the relevant reliability index system. Take data in one province on electric power optical fiber protection channel as example, the paper makes index model, designs program simulation, obtain the result of reliability comprehensive evaluation. It proposes suggestion to the reliability management of electric power communication network finally.
