| In recent decades, serious pollution of the natural environment, climate deterioration, resource abuse and other issues has become a very urgent problem.Humans are aware of the seriousness of these problems and are highly concerned about them.Scholars from all over the world continue to make efforts to reduce energy consumption and pollution, improve the living environment, and mitigate climate deterioration and so on.Passive design is one of the most important approaches in architecture and the building industry.Passive design is an effective means to make the building adapt to climate,to reduce building energy consumption, and to provide users with a more natural, more comfortable space.Passive methods solve different climate and building problems in different climatic zones and architectural types areas. This paper focus on the hot tropical climate area, taking Danang City in Vietnam as an example to study the passive method in private residential buildings, which is the most common building type in this area.In this paper, lots of academic literature reading and local site study on the selected topics are carried out on the first step, and then identified more specific problems and research directions. It is found that passive design of private houses in Danang City,Vietnam should pay attention to two aspects:insulation and ventilation.Learm from the studied case and particular experience of local traditional buildings,a reasonable solution to better insulation and ventilation has been found to adapt to climate.Finaly,a prototype of passive design private residential design in Danang,Vietnam, has been examined, which is mainly focus on the insulation and ventilation. The issue on building insulation discusses the building orientation and distribution, roof insulation, external wall insulation,as well as doors and windows shading.Another issue on ventilation design focuses on two types of ventilation, which are patio ventilation and tube type ventilation. It is believed that the results of this study can give some practical guidance to the passive design of local private residence, and can also inspire the similar study on passive design of other buildings types in similar climate condition. |
