The hospital is such a site that heal the wounded and rescue the dying, that also help people keep health and hence play an important role in our daily live. It is now put in deep self-examination over the meaning of hospital functions as the developing of the society economy, values and even architectural forms. Not only should the hospital be a site to rescue lives, but also a sit to protect and shield the body with spirit of the public. Therefore, it is a common objective for modern hospitals to have a construction with both comfort curing environment and service of humanity. The paper, based on the regional climate features and analyzing, puts forward that an excellent and comfort indoor environment could be created with a reasonable passive design which includes natural ventilation and lighting etc, especially as the project is located in the mild climate zone. The natural ventilation and lighting in hospital buildings have more benefits to the patients’ recovery, which cannot be dependent entirely on air-conditioning and man-made lighting. In the other hand, as an energy consumption of large public building group, the hospital, if pays more attention to using of passive design in both planning and architectural design, will contribute more to both energy saving and environment protecting. What makes it special is that the sun radiation is powerful in mild climate zone, which influences obviously the indoor environment of buildings. In chapter two of the paper, the author, using computer software Matlab and variables of sun location with solar radiation through analyzing passive theory and technique, sets up the physical and mathematical models of the window’s variables linked with solar energy, and based on the building environment, the author set forth further on the building outdoor sunshade, the natural ventilation and lighting and the theory of passive solar house. In chapter three, The paper explores the passive design strategy for the planning and architecture of the hospital, which is suitable in mild climate zone and combined with hospital functional features. The main environmental factors studied are sunshine and wind. It also analyzes and arranges the passive methods, which are suitable to hospital in mild climate zone, such as orientation, layout, self-shelter of building form, wind vectoring and utilizing, plants, waters and paving in landscape around etc.The passive design strategy for the planning helps hospital to create a comfort outdoor environment, and also provides an excellent boundary condition with heat and lighting for indoor environment. In chapter four, the paper explores the passive design strategy for hospital buildings in four aspects, it firstly emphasizes the building sunshade, then studies the natural ventilation, the third with natural lighting and the last one is passive solar house. Through the designing of shape and height for all rooms, corridors and atriums, the indoor heat and lighting environment could be improved when adopting reasonable sunshade construction elements, setting plant roof, using solar modules etc..Finally, the author, taking an engineering project of the planning and architectural design for a hospital with passive strategy in mild climate zone as an example, analyzes the simulation with method of quantitation using software of Matlab, Ecotect and Pheonics to generate and optimize the hospital buildings through the concept of passive design theory. In this way, it is strongly hoped that the reasonable parameters of building environment could be well set so as to guide to the supplement, amendment and improvement of the hospital buildings. And what is more, is that the theory and practice could be used for useful references in similar project for the others. |
