Research On The Space Design Of TFP Farrell's Comprehensive Transportation Hub Project

The TFP Farrell is one of the top ten architectural planning firms in the world,which was founded by an international architect Sir Terry Farrell.The firm specializes in use of place and context to respond positively to the natural and human environment surrounding the project,furthermore,with the advanced design ideas,the firm can eventually design and build imaginative and vibrant works.The firm's practice projects are all over the world,including government,civil and municipal buildings,corporate headquarters,art galleries,exhibition halls,museums,research centers,residential,commercial,leisure,retail,banking,industrial buildings,restructuring,transportation and infrastructure Facilities project.The TFP Farrell has rich experience in the integrated transport hub projects.from the British single function of the East Mindanan hub to China's integrated transport hub projects:Beijing South Railway Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station,which are continuing the firm's advanced idea.With the development of China's economy,the progress of construction technology and the tension of urban land,the demand for integrated transportation hub is increasing.An integrated transport hub is a building complex that contains at least two modes of transport.The large building complex,external modeling related to the city image,while the internal function of complex,in addition to traffic functions also have business,entertainment and other functions.The relationship between the integrated transport hub and the urban environment,external design and internal space processing put the architects to a higher position.This thesis mainly studies the spatial design of the integrated transportation hub under the concept of The TFP Farrell.The first chapter mainly introduces the research background,the purpose of the research,the research object and the research method.The second chapter clarifies two important concepts of the integrated transportation:hub and space.The third chapter concludes "continuum" design idea,based on the"Continuum ","Ten years,Ten cities," "Place" "Terry Farrell" and other works.The fourth,fifth,sixth chapter take Beijing South Railway Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station as typical cases to respectively demonstrate the relationship between space and function,structure,interface materials.At last the thesis come to a conclude some points of integrated transport hub space design,which our architects can learn from.The purpose of this thesis lies in two aspects:theoretical significance and guiding significance.From theoretical sense,this article can add a new kind of integrated transportation hub construction theory.From guiding sense,with the advanced design idea of The TFP Farrell,it can give some suggestions for architects in our country to guide our future integrated transportation hub project design,at the meanwhile reverse the current fact that foreign design firm master most of our country's important integrated transport hub's design right.
