With the gradual development and maturity of domestic wet clutch technology,wet clutch has been widely used in automobile transmission system.It has good heat dissipation,small degree of impact,engage more smoothly,wear more uniform and a series of advantages.The way wet clutch transmits its power mainly relies on the torque which produced by the engagement of master-driven friction plates,this process will generate heat.However,if the temperature of the friction plates is too high,it will make the friction plate thermal deformation,warping and pitting,this will cause the friction plate burning even failure.Similarly,if the oil temperature is too high,it will lead the oil to thermal decomposition or viscosity change etc.Both will affect the work performance and service life of wet clutch,and thus produced the jitter impact when the clutch is engaged will seriously affect the comfort and safety of the vehicle.So it is necessary to analyze the internal characteristics of the fluid flow field in wet clutch during the engaging process,this is important to improve the performance of wet friction plates,and it is also contribute to maintain good working characteristics to the wet clutch.This paper combined the school-enterprise cooperation project,based on the theory of computational fluid dynamics(CFD),and has completed the simulation of fluid flow field characteristics in the engagement process of wet clutch through the flow field simulation software FLUENT.The research content is as follows:(1)Combining with the structure and working principle of wet clutch,analyzed the fluid flow condition and the friction mechanism of wet clutch during the engaging process,also analyzed the performance of different friction materials and the function of surface groove structure on wet friction plates.(2)According to the fluid flow condition between the friction plates in the process of wet clutch engaging,analyzed the relevant fluid dynamics control equation,the numerical computation method of flow field and heat convention theories.(3)Use the three-dimensional design software CATIA,to create solid models of wet friction plates with three different typical oil groove structure,then import the models into GAMBIT to mesh them.Through the modeling and meshing process of wet friction plates with different kinds of oil groove structure,so as to provide the necessary physical models for the next simulation research.(4)Import the three-dimensional wet friction plate models of the three different typical oil groove structure above into FLUENT,to simulate and analyze the velocity distribution,temperature distribution and pressure distribution of the fluid between these three different kinds of wet friction plates.(5)Through the bench test of fluid characteristics during the wet clutch engagement,verified the validity of the simulation results.This paper combined the school-enterprise cooperation project,based on the theory of computational fluid dynamics(CFD),and has completed the simulation of fluid flow field characteristics in the engagement process of wet clutch through the flow field simulation software FLUENT,which has a certain theoretical and practical significance to improve the performance of the wet clutch.
