The Post Occupancy Evaluation And Optimization Strategies Of Dalian City Squares

With the development of the city,the city square,as a part of the city public space forms,is known as the living room of the city.It is an important place for people to carry out outdoor social exchanges,cultural activities,meetings and relaxation and an important carrier of the public life,representing the image of the city.Because of the popularity of city squares,a lot of city squares are under construction.However,due to the blindly trend following and the unreasonable scales,the situations of use of city squares are not as expected.What are the situations and the use rates of city squares? Are they in line with the Chinese people's habits? How are they used? What are the situations of old city squares? Since the city square is built according to the city planning and construction,early city squares are constructed in the city center.Are they out of the times? There are a series of questions worth thinking.The construction and optimization strategies for the city square are necessary.In this paper,the Dalian City,which is known as the city of square,was selected as the research object.Representative city squares built after 90 s were selected,including: Xinghai Square,Olympic Square and Dalian North Station Square.From the view of square users,post-occupancy evaluation(POE)theory is used as the basis of the research,combined with the theoretical analysis and the case study.This paper systematically designs the questionnaire and the content of the observation system.Questionnaire,field observation,interviews and other methods to conduct detailed research on the case are used.Based on the analysis of the results of POE,data analysis and variance analysis,this paper analyzes the behavior characteristics of different types of visitors,and evaluates the square satisfaction factors from the material elements and nonmaterial elements.And the situations of different types of squares are obtained.According to the survey results and the observation records,the factors influencing the situations of the squares are obtained,and the problems existing in the city squares in Dalian are summarized.Then,the design and optimization strategies are proposed,which provides a certain value reference for the future optimization and construction of city squares in Dalian.The paper is divided into five parts.Chapter 1 is the introduction,which clears the purpose of research and the research significance,defines the research objects and related concepts and determines the research methods and the paper framework.Chapter 2 is the preparation of research,which introduces the object profile and designs the survey content.Chapter 3 is the situation of use,which analyzes the situation of research objects according to the user evaluation.Chapter 4 is the factors and problems,which summarizes the factors and existing problems of the situation of thethree squares.Chapter 5 is the optimization strategies and conclusions,which proposes the strategies of the square reconstruction,construction and optimization and summarizes the conclusions.The main conclusions and innovations of the study are as follows:(1)From the view of users,the POE method is used to carry out the way of use evaluation and the satisfaction survey of the situations of the city squares in Dalian.This paper constructs the POE evaluation factors of Dalian city squares from two aspects,the material elements and nonmaterial elements.(2)POE is used to study the cases.The variance is analyzed from the user needs,satisfaction and use,etc.The situations of use of the three squares are obtained and the influencing factors are summarized.(3)The square reconstruction and construction optimization design is proposed.Movable and participatory landscape facilities are increased.The "research-design-feedback-improve" design pattern is put forward to make sure the city squares are loved by the users.
