Dovetail joint is a common type of connection in timber structure.It produced a new type of steel pipe scaffold system while the dovetail joint was applied to scaffold.Due to the steel pipe scaffold frequent accidents in recent years,as a new type of steel pipe scaffold,in this paper,dovetail joint steel pipe scaffold model test and numerical analysis method of combining the comparison to its mechanical performance analysis system.the process and result data for moment–rotation behavior in joint stiffness test of dovetail joint steel pipe scaffold was presented and it's mechanical characteristics of semi-rigid connections was studied in this paper.Eight experimental tests were conducted to obtain the moment–rotation curves,of which six specimens were loaded at vertical direction and two specimens at horizontal direction.According to the results of analysis for experiment,dovetail joint of steel pipe scaffold is provided with mechanical character of semi-rigid connections both in vertical and horizontal direction.The three-parameter moment–rotation model of Chen W.F was applied to fit the test data,initial connection stiffness and ultimate moment capacity were identified for each specimen.After camparing with secant stiffness,initial connection stiffness and tangent stiffness were proposed to be used in calculation.12 experiments of 7.95 meters height for scaffold frame were conducted.The 12 experiments were different from line space,column space,step space and brace and these parameters have effect on the bearing capacity.The finite element structure analysis software SAP2000 was used to establish 3-D numerical model for the steel pipe scaffold with dovetail joint.The numerical calculation was testified by comparing to the measured results in experiments.The numerical model used in SAP200 were used to simulate the other 50 groups which had not been tested in laboratory for their ultimate bearing capacity.In this paper,based on the research of dovetail joint steel pipe scaffold,got more useful data,dovetail joint steel pipe scaffold for the reference for the practical engineering application.
