This work was created in order to show the variation of the species in the gardens through the ages and how was look like herb home garden and how it has changed its appearance, and whether if it was an important part of the garden for all time. A very important part of the work is a literature review that presents the history of gardens, because its basis is examined the structure, appearance and the nature of the performance and this gives a basis to determined the relationship between today's vegetable garden, herb garden and its form in the past. The first mention of the role of European herbs in European gardens, come already from the middle ages, when the herbal medicine was the only form of medicine in those days, also people appreciate herbs for their ornamental look. They were planted in ornamental gardens, which also had a utylity role not only ornamental. For very long time herb garden was a very private place in the garden,fenced by wall or wooden fence. It was a place of contemplation and family gatherings. every house had a garden like this. For the seventeenth century herb garden is also a garden area the most private part of the area around the house. In subsequent periods, information about herbal gardens are slight, people created parks close to the residential buildings, later creation of public parks makes the home garden close house private place and selection of plants becomes a matter of very individual.The home gardens which had herb gardens had a similar appearance over the years, always described as geometric gardens, even the period from the 18th century. where there was popular a free forms in the creating landscape areas, this areas had also gardens with part of geometric and more elliptical free-form shapes.
