Compared With Taiwan's Private Garden Private Gardening Design Aesthetics

Chinese classical garden is a substantial part of traditional culture in China which is absorbed in Chinese centuries-old cultural intension. This is magnificent treasure and art rarity which the ancestor left to us, with thousand of years development gestating Chinese unique garden system and deeply influencing many Asian countries and even being broadcasted to Europe.Chinese classical garden is defined as "using natural mountains and river as the central thought, flower and wood、water and rock、architecture as material measure of representation, creating endless vision in limited space, circumstance with high level mental vision". Chinese classical garden can be assorted by its owners as imperial garden private garden、temple garden and scenery garden. Among these, private garden was made exquisite and delicate、ideal simple and elegant and full of literacy. As recording, our earliest private garden was started from the eastern jin dynasty. With scholars and bureaucrats developing it to a period of great prosperity, the skill and techniques of private gardening have a great impact on the construction of imperial garden and temple garden. Truly understanding the beauty of private garden could have much help on the study of the ingenious of Chinese classical gardening. Therefore, this study chose Chinese private garden as the object.Our private garden is classified by section as three main systems:the northern private garden, private garden in south of the Yangtze river and private garden in south of the five ridges. Of the three, private garden in south of the Yangtze river was the best preserved and had a large amount, therefore, before this, many private gardens in south of the Yangtze river and the northern private gardens had been researched thoroughly. On the contrary, private garden in south of the five ridges is quite unacquainted. Because of some particular political、historical and geographical factor, the garden from Taiwan on the other seashore belong to the private garden system in south of the five ridges has only some brief introduction, other than the study concerning the garden in Taiwan region.With the field study in Taiwan preserved garden, the author get the point of Taiwan private garden and garden from mainland come from the same origin,but have their own distinctive. This do worth studying and reference.This paper choose private garden in south of the Yangtze river as the fiduciary object of studying Taiwan private garden, using the way of comparative study to compare the private garden in south of the Yangtze river and in Taiwan to correctly grasp the style and feature in Taiwan garden. In order to better compare and research, this paper focus on the most distinctive gardening in the private garden in south of the Yangtze river like the humble administrator’s garden and Taiwan most complete preserved and largest scale the lin family garden, representing the highest level. Trying to paralleled research concluded the similarities and differences in private garden from both sides.
