“Urban Acupunture” In Urban Reconstruction

With the rapid development of the city,the traditional mode for large-scale transformation in the process of urbanization has been criticized.Thus,the exploration of new ways concerning transformation turns to be a necessity on the way of sustainable urban development.In 1980 s,Spanish architect and city specialist Marales brought forward a way of acupuncture of renewal strategies according to the Rehabilitation Plan for Barcelona combined with Chinese Acupuncture Theory,which means,through the small-scale acupuncture intervention on the specific location,it can activate the city’s potential and promote the development of urban renewal.This paper is based on the theory of urban acupuncture,taking a reconstruction project of acupuncture-like transformation with typical properties as the research object,exploring the transformation strategy of urban acupuncture,then constructing the system for urban sustainable development.Based on layer-by-layer conception definition of the theory for traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture and urban acupuncture,as the foundation;the dissertation expounds the theoretical background and the advancement of the theory.Then,from the possibility of the deep-seated difficulties in urban redevelopment and the implementation of urban acupuncture,the varied implementation forms of urban acupuncture are established and the application value for urban acupuncture in urban redevelopment is summarized.After this,through the analysis of a small-scale gradual way,catalyst intervention and citizen participation,together with the related case study,the frame of urban redevelopment guided be urban acupuncture is established.Finally,through the reconstruction project about cultural and commercial streets of Kuanhouli in Jinan,the methodology this dissertation is established positively exemplified in the real practice,and from the three key layer for analysis of effects in economy,culture and society,which illustrates the practical application of urban acupuncture in old city reconstruction.
