Senior-suited Design Of Residential Public Space In Lingnan Based On Space Syntax

With the further development of population aging and urbanization,more and more urban settlements have sprung up.Past elderly studies on residential public space mainly focused on the qualitative examination while lack of quantitative study,thus,it is difficult to transfer research outcomes into direct guidance on design and decision-making.What’s more,the research content mainly focuses on senior-suited design of local space,and lacks study of residential public space from the perspective of overall spatial relationships,which leads to many senior-suited designs of residential public space against actual use condition.Space Syntax theory as a logical language to understand spatial space of living area,its understanding of space configuration associates with human behavior,describes space’s configuration feature quantitative,and provides new perspectives and methods for study on senior-suited of residential public space.Through the analysis of the physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly,and research of elders’ walking,seating,staying and gathering activities in residential public space,this paper draws a conclusion that the following relative factors influence elders’ activities in the light of residential public space organizational structure: accessibility,recreational,safety,communicability and intelligibility.In addition,based on Space Syntax theory,research and application of analysis software Depthmap,the author accomplished quantitative analysis of public space senior-suited on road,amenity,green field and square respectively.Finally,according to characteristic of four types of public space and different research levels,this paper uses corresponding speration methods,concludes senior-suited design strategy and specific operation methods,and adds corresponding case study.It provides great reference signification and value for the future senior-suited design of residential public space.
