Research On The Usability Design Of Bathroom Products For Old People

Nowadays,it has been an aging society all over the world,the aging of the Chinese population is becoming more and more serious.At present,the use of sanitary ware products for the elderly except for the high price of the bathtub or toilet,and other products made in abroad,the bathroom products with low price and good functions hardly can be found in our country.With the increasing of age,the physiological function of the elderly has been declined gradually,the body function of the old people when they are taking shower results their bathing behavior.What is more,their life and safety fluency has also been impacted.Therefore,it is necessary to design sanitary ware products for the elderly,so that it can not only improve the self-care ability of the elderly but also can reduce the burden of family and society.This product design is based on the theory of demand,and the theory of usability,combined with the knowledge of ergonomics,geriatric medicine,psychology and so on.Then the characteristics of physiological,psychological,way of life for old people occupied at home and their consumption behavior have been systematically analyzed.Through the questionnaire survey,field visits,user interviews and other methods,it has been found that the elderly usually appear the situations of anoxia,dizzy and slip down,which is caused by declined function of low leg muscles,hypertension,and heart disease,myocardial ischemia disease.All of which been mentioned will make a threat to their physical and mental health and even life safety.The bathing behavior process of deduction and analysis of the old people has been written is this article.In addition,the main problems such as leg muscles unsteady,washing lower body inconvenience,taking and bathing activities inconvenience,hidden dangers with life safety and so on,have caused their corresponding needs.These needs that include rest for a while,get and use products conveniently,take a shower alone without others’ help must been satisfied.So put forward the design idea of folding with a shelf function shower chair for these needs.Through the analysis of the design elements of each component of the bath,the design practice of the final design is summarized.The old people can enjoy a safe,comfortable and convenient life.
