According to statistics,China's road traffic accidents,the impact of side impact occurred only after the collision,but the side of the collision rate is the highest.Side collision directly harm the body's head,chest and so on,which are the most deadly parts,it is of great significance for vehicle safety performance to strengthen protection of these parts in side collision.In this paper,side airbags are studied to enhance the driver's chest protection.In this paper,study of side airbag has ben done by collision simulation with software MADYMO.Protective effect of side airbag on the human body is verified by comparing the injury values of chest and abdomen of ES-2 dummy with side airbag device and ES-2 dummy without the side airbag.Safety performance of side airbag in driver restraint system is analyzed according to the test data of a real vehicle collision.First,through a real vehicle datas,models of restraint system driver side airbags,body models and dummies are constrcuted with software CATIA?Hypermesh.The model is simulated by acceleration data of Side collision and a real vehicle test.Secondly,the simulation of collision system is carried out with side airbag and side airbag.Based on comparison of results,the effectiveness of control system is verified with side airbag on the driver's important position.And the optimization direction of the system is determined by the results of the test.Finally,optimization parameters of determining side airbags are given by the method of sensitive analysis.The orthogonal design is carried out to determine the parameters.The optimization model is verified,the correctness and optimization effect of the optimization method are verified.
